The more a position pays, the more competitive it is to get that job, and to perform on it. There is a reason some of the highest tier jobs pay 2-4x as much as others do for the same position. It's typically because they expect more, or compensate for some aspect of the job.
Below are resources I created which can help you get into more competitive companies. It took me 8 years from my first professional job to get into a "Tier 3" company - perhaps some of this information will shorten the journey for you.
